Egypt's Parliament witnessed among the members of the Education Committee and former Minister of Education Dr. Hilali Sherbini, leading to the departure of the minister, and appointing a new minister in the recent reshuffle in the government of Sherif Ismail.
Arabs Today reviewed, in an exclusive interview with Dr. Abdul Rahman Borai, the deputy of the Education Committee in the Egyptian Parliament, the most important files in front of the new Minister of Education, Dr. Tarek Shawky.
The Egyptian MP stressed that the new minister will face many challenges, in light of the problems experienced by the educational process in Egypt recently.
Concerning the priorities' files of the ministry, the MP called for working to complete these files to serve the education in Egypt, stressing that the committee stands by the new minister for the development of education system to the level befitting Egypt.
The MP explained that the new education law is one of the most important files, calling the ministry to finish the law to be discussed in the Education Committee.
Borai stressed the importance of the prospective law to develop the educational process, pointing out that the new education law submitted to Parliament includes a number of controversial articles, and it is expected to give rise to considerable controversy when discussing the law.
Concerning the disputes, the MP said that It's about the desire of the government to collect 1% of the income of these schools and some MPs filed a proposal calling the governoment to collect 5%, and others demanded by 15%, and this percentage is controversial between the Commission and the Ministry of Education, and another dispute about granting the quality for the private schools.
