Iraqi security expert Diaa Al Wakeel said that the current fight launched by the Iraqi troops against ISIS extremist group in Mousl is not organized, as it is based on punishing the target not treating the problem. He added the fight against the extremists does not need the excessive use of heavy weapons, while it needs just the light guns and machine guns.
He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that the International Coalition led by the U.S turned to use the excessive power against the residential areas which include unarmed civilian people, as they decided to destroy their enemy militarily by using the missiles and shells. He stressed that such approach led to the killing of a large number of civilian people in Iraq.
He added that it not an organized war, saying that it needs to push the special forces qualified for the street wars in the districts of the Iraqi city to liberate them from the grip of extremists. He stressed the need for depending on the intelligence information and the ways of electronic war. He called for not using the missiles and heavy weapons to avoid the killing of more civilians during the coming period.
He added, “When the military operations started to liberate the city’s left bank, the residents turned to transfer to the right bank. However, the current challenge facing the Iraqi troops is the large number of civilians existed in the right bank of Mousl. The families started to leave the areas of conflict, while the preparations for receiving those displaced people are not enough.
He underlined the importance of the parliamentary role to contain the crisis, saying that the committee follows the developments to refer the formal reports to the parliament, including the basic needs of the displaced people. He stressed the need for a serious role for the government and other international organizations to perform a role to help the displaced people.
He warned, “If the government has not responded to our demands, the Iraqis would face genocide. The government should take serious steps to contain the current crisis witnessed in the country.”
