Egyptian parliamentarian Ehab Al Tamawi, spokesperson of the committee of ethics, revealed that the committee took its decision to strip parliamentarian Elhami Agina from his parliamentary position, saying that they referred the decision to the legislative and constitutional committee to question the parliamentarian and to provide him with the opportunity to defend himself
He added that Agina committed two violations; the first was the issuance of press statements in which he insulted the Egyptian woman, as he requested to conduct virginity tests to the female student of university. He described such statements as a violation against the Egyptian woman and his role as a parliamentarian. The second, he added, was insulting the Egyptian parliament.
He said that the committee issued its recommendation to strip the parliamentarian from his membership of Egypt’s House of Representatives. He added that the legislative and constitutional committee summoned the parliamentarian to investigations, while he has not attended.
He added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that the parliamentarian is scheduled to appear before the legislative committee on Monday. He denied that the parliament has specific intention towards the parliamentarian, saying that the decision will be taken through a vote in plenary session.
