Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said Friday Egypt, along with its political leadership, firmly stand against terrorism.
The minister was delivering Friday's sermon at Martyr Mamdoh Ali el Sayed mosque in el Bagour city, in the presence of Mufti Shawqi Allam, Governor Hesham Abdel Basset and a galaxy of community leaders. He applauded the UAE and Sharjah Ruler Sultan bin Muhammad al Qasimi for siding with Egypt in its war against terror.
He stressed that the ministry's program to overcome terrorism and extremism and protect youth from their danger, is implemented via knowledge, science, culture and correcting wrong religious concepts.
Gomaa posted the premier about the efforts exerted by his ministry in the fields of translation, publishing, correcting the wrong religious concepts and printing books at low prices to spread the upright teachings of Islam.
He said that U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision regarding relocating the U.S. embassy and recognizing Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel does not change the reality of its Arabism.
He added that Jerusalem has always been an Arabian city, as it always will be. Gomaa demanded that international governments unite against the ‘traitors’ and express a fixed and firm stance towards the Palestinian cause.
He also stated that provoking Muslims will not serve the peace process in the world; “on the contrary, it will generate hatred, darkness, extremism and terrorism,” Gomaa stated. Gomaa’s statements coincided with the “day of rage” announced by Palestinians as a response to the American declaration. Several protests broke out in the early morning in Jerusalem along with other Arabian cities and capitals around the Islamic and Arab world.
