Ambassador Stefan Roumtier
Cairo - Fady Ameen

French Ambassador to Cairo Stefan Roumtier said that Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi is scheduled to discuss a large number of issues during his visit to Paris, including the future of Middle East after the separation of Kurdistan and developments in the Palestinian reconciliation and Libyan issue.
He added that the visit will witness the signing of a number of agreements to improve economic relations between the two countries during the coming period, saying that the two countries have their strong relation on the military side.
He stressed, “This visit provides a great opportunity to emphasize the strength of relations between the two countries as well as on the personal level an opportunity to confirm the depth of friendship between the young president Emmanuel Makron and Sisi.”
He stressed that his country is seeking to increase French investments in Egypt, which exceeded the barrier of 5 billion euros, hoping to increase this figure after Sisi’s visit to Paris scheduled to be held this week.
He praised the election of UNESCO Director General, saying that it provided a model of competition between the different countries, stressing that the elections were not a competition or a political battle, but a choice agreed by most members of the Executive Office.
He hailed the pivotal role Egypt plays in the Middle East peace process. Egypt is an important partner to France, and could not be ignored, the source said in statements. He noted that French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault will visit Cairo on Wednesday for consultations with the Egyptian side.
Ayrault will have bilateral talks with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and present a French peace initiative during a meeting with his counterparts of an Arab League committee on peace talks comprising Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Palestine, the source said.
He said that Egypt is undergoing a major challenge in its economic crisis, but the outcome cannot be judged now because economic reform measures take a long time.
He stressed that Egypt pays tribute to Egypt for its important role in reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas, hoping to resolve the crisis between Israel and Palestine. This is not new to Egypt. It also plays an important role in reconciliation between the Libyan parties. Egypt plays an important role in the region and we always want it strong.
He added that all countries have a major responsibility in combating terrorism. Egypt and France, for example, cooperate in the fight against terrorism, so Qatar must also give the world its evidence in the fight against terrorism.
