Saudi Arabia will stand firmly against Iran's interference in Arabs' internal affairs, affirmed Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al Jubeir.
This is also the responsibility of the Arab League, in light of its goals which aim to protect the Arab nation and preserve the security of the Arab counties and their nations, he added in his speech Sunday during the emergency meeting of the Arab League council at the Arab foreign ministers' level under the UAE's chairmanship.
Jubeir, meanwhile, extended thanks to the AL council for its swift response to Saudi Arabia's call for holding the emergency meeting to discuss attacks in Iran on the kingdom’s embassy and consulate.
"These attacks clearly reflect the approach that the Iranian policy is taking in our Arab region specifically ... with its interference in the region's affairs and instigation of sectarian strife and shaking its security and stability," said Jubeir.
Tensions have risen recently between Iran and Saudi Arabia, when the later executed Shiite preacher Nimr al Nimr on January 2.
In Iran, protesters stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran, prompting Riyadh to sever relations. Bahrain and Sudan followed suit.
The UAE also scaled down its diplomatic representation in Iran and Kuwait recalled their ambassadors to Tehran.
