Muslim Brotherhood former leader, Mohammed Habib, believes that the Egyptian political scene is confused. This is how the former politician explains the recent events which shook Egypt: the Mahmoud street protests, the withdrawal of members from the Constituent Assembly, or the bigger protests triggered by Morsi’s decree. “Everyone in Egypt can feel the gravity of the situation now,” said Habib to Arabstoday. “Everyone comes up with an alternative solution to get out of this crisis, but a referendum on the constitutional decree is not the right decision, because this decree is illegal in the first place,” said the former deputy. When asked about a potential solution to the crisis, Habib said: “This decree should be cancelled to save Egypt from bloodshed, from a bloody conflict between the Muslim Brotherhood and the liberals.” About the President’s latest decision, Habib said: “I am sure that Morsi consulted the Brotherhood before taking such a step. He needs all the support he can get from them. "The new constitutional declaration will open a door to a new crisis that we do not need. The country at this stage needs stability, and this idea of separating powers is not compatible with the decree itself,” Habib denounced.
