MORE than 70 drivers started the new drag racing season with the 'test and tune' session at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.Racers from all over the Gulf took their cars and motorbikes onto the NHRA-affiliated quarter-mile strip in Sakhir, and enthusiastically began their preparations for the 2011/2012 season of the Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship.?The 'Test and Tune' was organised by the Bahrain Drag Racing Club (BDRC), which falls under the umbrella of the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF), and held in co-operation with BIC.The participants included drivers from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, who quickly went to work on the 70 cars that were on hand at the track.An entire evening of high adrenaline and burning rubber then took place, with the tests commencing at 7pm and concluding at around 11pm.Officials at the BMF were in attendance. They engaged in many discussions with the competing drivers, who gave their feedback about their level of readiness and the obstacles facing them ahead of the new championship.Secretary at BDRC Yasser Abdullah expressed delight with the high number of participants in the 'Test and Tune', which he said was a good way to start ?the racing year
