The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Genius Sports, a global leader in sports data technology, distribution and commercialization services, have signed an agreement to develop a competition management system that can be rolled out to the confederation's 47 member associations by early 2017, AFC said in a report.
The system will assist member associations to manage both professional and amateur leagues and tournaments in their respective countries. It was approved by the AFC development committee in July.
When fully operational, the system will enable member associations to manage competitions, collect and distribute data to fans, sponsors and media, which are key components to run competitions effectively and streamline the competition management workflow.
Comprising a comprehensive set of components, the system covers all aspects of competitions including fixture generation, referee and tribunal management, match cards, results recording, league standings, statistics and accreditation.
The new CMS complements the work led by FIFA through the FIFA Connect Program, which enables member associations to register stakeholders in a systematic way.
