Minneapolis - UPI

Retired National Football League players have filed a class-action complaint against current players and owners, The New York Times reports. The complaint lodged in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis Monday accuses current players and the league of conspiring to limit benefits received by retirees in order to maximize salaries and benefits for current players, the newspaper said. The retirees seek an injunction to stop owners and current players from discussing retiree-related issues as they negotiate a new labor contract, the Times reported. The court will have to decide if the retirees have standing to bring an antitrust complaint, the Times said. NFL players have been locked out by the league since March 12, but the two sides have been negotiating recently.
