The Egyptian Railways Authority estimated the losses of the train that was attacked on the Suez-Ismailia railway line at 31,000 Egyptian pounds.
The train was targeted by a number of nasty students, spokesman for the Transport Ministry Ahmed Ibrahim said.
Transport Minister Saad el Gioushi has refused to operate the train before collecting the money needed to repair it from the attackers or their families, he added.
Seven of the rioters were arrested and they are now under investigations, head of the Railways Authority Ahmed Hamed said.
He added that the transport police as well as Ismailia and Suez governors affirmed that tracks of trains will be more secured.
