Cairo - Arabstoday

In Friday sermon, President Mohamed Morsi vows Egypt won't leave Hamas-run Gaza Strip 'on its own' to face Israeli bombardments, now in third day Egypt will not turn its back on the besieged Gaza Strip, which for the last three days has been subject to relentless Israeli bombardment, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi stressed in his Friday sermon delivered at Cairo's Fatema Al-Sharbatli Mosque. Egypt, the president said, would not leave Gaza "on its own" in the face of Israel's "shameless aggression," in which 19 Palestinians have been killed so far – including top Hamas commander Ahmed Jaabari – and hundreds injured. Morsi added that the Egyptian public was demanding an end to the ongoing Israeli violence, stressing – in a reference to the new leadership in Cairo – that "Egypt today is very different than that of yesterday." On Wednesday, Morsi recalled Egypt's ambassador to Israel in response to mounting Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. On Friday, Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil visited the Hamas-run coastal enclave to voice solidarity with the strip's roughly 1.7 million inhabitants. From Ahramonline
