A non-commissioned officer was injured after three masked men opened fire at him in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Qena.
The assailants, who aimed to steal his motorcycle, managed to flee the scene.
Security forces launched a manhunt to arrest perpetrators.
The public prosecution launched an investigation into the incident.
