Unidentified people stormed on Sunday the palace of fugitive former finance minister Boutros Ghali, who served from 2004 to 2011 under the regime of Hosni Mubarak, in Fayyoum governorate.
The attackers planted a bomb inside the palace and then detonated it remotely.
No casualties were reported.
Sappers moved to the blast scene to make sure that no more bombs were planted.
The public prosecution was notified to launch a probe.
