Algeria will continue its efforts in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime and for strengthening security at borders, said Wednesday in Brussels Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci. "My country will continue its already considerable effort to contribute to the fight against terrorism and the transnational organized crime, especially drug trafficking and also for the strengthening of security at our borders," Medelci said in his address at the high-level Donor Conference for the Development in Mali, where he is representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika. In this regard, he underlined the commitment of the international community for sustainable development in Mali and the support to the economic revival plan should be combined to other regional efforts, to which Algeria is actively contributing. Medleci said that Algeria has always shown "effective" and "concrete" solidarity to Mali. In this respect, he underlined that since the beginning of the crisis, "Algeria has provided direct financial aid, in addition to the training and strengthening of the capacities of Mali’s Army and security forces, and supplied the Malian army with necessary equipment and materials to strengthen the security of sensitive sites in the capital Bamako." Algeria also sent humanitarian aid for the displaced people in southern Mali and for the Malian refugees in neighbouring countries, Medelci added.
