An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale today jolted Papua New Guinea.
The Malaysian Meteorology Department issued a statement in which it said the earthquake epicentre is located 87 kilometers south of the Papua New Guinea's city of Kimbe.
On Thursday a strong earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit the Pacific Island nation, according to the US Geological Survey Another earthquake jolted Nias Island off North Sumatra was jolted by an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale on Friday. No casualties were reported, but the quake, which took place at 10:12 a.m. local time, sparked panic among local residents.
