2 Quakes rattle Baja California, Mexico

Two earthquakes, with magnitudes of more than 6, struck Mexico's Gulf of California just minutes apart Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The magnitude-6.9 and magnitude-6.2 quakes were about 345 miles southeast of Tijuana in the Mexican state of Baja California and were a little more than 6 miles deep, USGS said. No tsunami warnings were issued and there were no immediate reports of damage, CNN reported. The USGS called the perceived shaking as "very strong" near the 6.2-magnitude quake's epicenter, the Los Angeles Times reported. Movement was felt in San Diego and Tucson, officials said.
