The amount of irrigation water used in 2014 was 1.2% more than 2013, recording 38.3 billion cubic meters against 37.8 billion cubic meters, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said.
According to an annual bulletin on irrigation and water resources statistics, CAPMAS said the water used in irrigation at canal heads rose 1.3% in 2014, compared to 2013, hitting 43.6 billion cubic meters against 46 billion cubic meters.
Irrigation water at Aswan also increased 1.2% in the same year, recording 46.6 billion cubic meters versus 46 billion cubic meters, it said.
