The current November has been the warmest in Austria since temperature recordings first began in 1767 with temperatures 3.8 percent over the long-term average, the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) reported Friday.
"The previous record was in November 1926 which was 3.4 degrees over the average," said ZAMG climatologist Alexander Orlik.
It is also the ninth month of the year that has seen temperatures warmer than average, with only May and August slightly cooler.
This year's November has also been marked with a distinct lack of snow throughout all of Austria, with the Alpinezentrum Rudolfshutte in the Hohe Tauern national park in Salzburg reporting only 27cm of snow compared to the average of 178cm.
In state capitals there was not a single day with snow cover, whereas on average there are between two and five such days.
