The winter's drought and cold weather are normal weather variations and not evidence of human-caused climate change, a poll indicates. Sixty-six percent of respondents to the Gallup poll say their area of the United States is experiencing colder-than-normal temperatures, and 25 percent say their area is in a drought. However, only 19 percent of those in cold areas, and only 9 percent in drought areas, blame the weather patterns on global warming or other human-caused climate change. Democrats are more likely to blame the global warming scenario, the poll revealed. Forty-seven percent of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents who perceive colder temperatures, and 51 percent of those experiencing drought, blame the weather patterns on global warming. Only 11 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents think global warming is causing the cold temperatures, and only 9 percent blame the drought on it. The poll was based on telephone interviews conducted with 1,048 adults across the United States March 6-9. Its margin of sampling error is 4 percentage points.
