Egypt's Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy on Friday met with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius to discuss climate issues in Africa.
Talks took up the outcome of meetings held last week to coordinate efforts to combat climate imbalance in Africa.
The meeting was held in preparation for an international conference on climate, slated for December in Paris.
Fahmy told MENA that the talks addressed the needs of African countries to establish an effective mechanism to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
He said that Cairo and Paris share the same vision on the consequences of climate change and plans to combat it.
Cooperation with France in the field of new and renewable energy was discussed in meetings with Fabius and a number of French officials, Fahmy noted.
On May 19, Fahmy paid a visit to France, during which he met with a number of top French officials, notably Fabius and Environment Minister Segolene Royal.
