The Second Arab Water Forum, themed "Living with Water Scarcity, will kick start here under the patronage of the Arab League and the Egyptian Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources on November 20 and run until November 23. The tri-annual event will identify and promote effective and sustainable solutions to the water problems, and foresee the priority action to increase the Arab region's preparedness to meet water challenges related to people, food, nature, energy, health, and education.The forum will address many key themes, including securing basic human needs (Water, food and environment) for sustainable development, the risk of climate change on water between uncertainty and cost of adaptation and sustainable and fair solutions for the trans-boundary rivers and groundwater aquifersThe forum aims to come up with an Arab Water Security Convention and work out a road map to address the state, use and management of water resources in the Arab region and use and management of non-conventional water resources including desalinated water, agricultural drainage water, treated waste water, grey water, brackish and saline water & groundwater recharge.
