Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Tuesday issued a decision to form the national council for climate change.
The council will be headed by the environment minister and group the CEO of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) and members from the ministries of defense, foreign affairs, finance, planning and interior.
It will also include members from the ministries of the international cooperation, electricity, water resources and irrigation, agriculture, trade and industry, petroleum, investment, civil aviation and the scientific research.
The new body will be responsible for drafting and updating a comprehensive national strategy for addressing the climate change.
It will also work on drawing up the national plans of the climate change and linking them with the sustainable development strategy.
It will also follow up all projects aimed at reducing the emissions and adapting the hazards of the climate change.
