The Seventh Annual Health Safety and Environment (HSE) in Energy sector opened here Monday under the patronage of HE the Minister for Energy and Industry Dr. Mohamed Saleh Al Sada. In his opening address to the three-day forum, organised by Fleming Gulf Conferences, Qatar Petroleum HSE Department Director Saad Al Kubaisi reiterated the importance of adhering to all aspects of safety standards for companies operating in the energy sector. He lauded companies in Qatar for complying with and giving high priority to implement safety standards as well as protecting the environment in consonance with the articles of the Qatar National Vision 2030. "Qatar Petroleum endeavours to create a safe working environment for all employees by implementing the required safety standards," said Al Kubaisi and stressed the company''s focus on promoting the safety standards through various initiatives one of which is the setting up of a college of safety and emergency training in Ras Laffan City. Qatar has been working for years to promote a culture of safety among companies here with the co-operation of all stakeholders to ensure the safety all members of the community, he said. The challenge for all companies working in the energy sector, Kubaisi stressed, is to promote a culture of safety awareness besides using the appropriate technology and equipment to protect employees from the risks of accidents on duty.
