Heavy rain will continue to sweep across regions in south and east China over the next three days, the national observatory forecast Tuesday.
Regions in the lower and middle reaches of the Yangtze River and some parts of the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou will experience heavy rain and storms during the period, the National Meteorological Center said.
It also forecast rainstorms for some areas in Guangxi, Hainan and Taiwan over the coming 24 hours.
The observatory advised local authorities to closely monitor the weather front and prepare for any disasters.
Torrential rain has plagued several provinces in China, disrupting the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and causing heavy economic losses in the last few days.
In the city of Maoming in southern province of Guangdong, days of heavy rain across 23 counties has killed at least eight people and resulted in direct economic losses of more than 1 billion yuan (153.8 million U.S. dollars), according to the local government.
