Rainstorms will continue to hammer a large swath of central and southern China on Saturday and Sunday.
The National Meteorological Center renewed its Friday's yellow alert on rainstorms and warned that torrential rains are expected to continue in Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Yunnan and Guangdong provinces, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region, and Shanghai.
Persistent heavy rains have caused casualties and economic losses in the above-mentioned areas.
As of 8 p.m. on Friday, four people had been killed and two remained missing in central China's Hunan Province, according to the local flood prevention and drought control headquarters.
