Hurricane Raymond began to intensify Sunday as it churned off Mexico's Pacific coast, UPI quoted weather forecasters as saying. Raymond, a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, was about 735 miles off the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico, moving west-northwest at 10 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 2 a.m. PDT advisory. No coastal watches or warnings were in effect. Raymond was expected to turn toward the northwest and lose some forward speed Sunday, then shift toward the north Monday, forecasters said. Raymond was expected to pick up some strength Sunday before it begins to gradually weaken on Monday. Hurricane-force winds extended outward from center up to 25 miles. Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles.
