An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale has hit near Banten province in Western Indonesia.
The Meteorological and Geophysics Agency said the quake's epicentre was located 271 km southwest of Lebak city in the province, at a depth of 10 km below sea level. No tsunami warning was issued.
Indonesia experiences frequent seismic and volcanic activity due to its position on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where tectonic plates collide.
