Morocco bans EU fishing in its territorial waters

Morocco banned on Wednesday European Union member countries from fishing in the north African country's territorial waters. EU vessels were told to abandon Moroccan waters as of midnight Wednesday, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Morocco, Eneko Landaburu said he regretted an earlier EP vote against the extension of a fisheries agreement. The EP vote triggered the decision by Morocco.He said that the prospect of a new agreement is "still totally open".
