An earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck southwest of Fiji on Saturday.
The quake struck 224 km southwest of Fiji, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. It was centered 152 kilometers southwest of Nadi and 238 kilometers from the capital Suva at a depth of 10 kilometers.
No tsunami warning was issued, and there were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties. A 7.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the same region a week ago.
The area lies on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", a highly active tectonic zone that frequently experiences earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
