Rabat - Rachid Bougha

Lebanese singer Carole Samaha opened Friday the first major concert of the fifth ‘Women’s Voices’ annual festival in Tetouan, a coastal city in Morocco’s north. Festival organisers say the first day of the events featured performances by youth group ‘Kelma’, Moroccan singer Mouna Roukachi and Spanish flamenco group Chambao. Lebanese singer Yara will be the most anticipated artist to feature in the festival’s closing ceremony next Saturday.  The festival management says it is keen to display the talents of women who have enriched Arab music over the years. In addition to the musical performances, there have been many informative seminars about various topics, including the enhancement of access to medical services and the distribution of food supplies to deprived people in the city. In an effort to make ‘Women’s Voices’ a more popular event, the festival management aims to attract more women by organising conferences to accommodate innovative women from all over the world. The festival will also hold awards ceremonies, where prizes will be handed to figures who have excelled in the art and culture industry.
