The Plastic Artists Union organized an exhibition at the People’s Hall in Damascus, showcasing graphic arts pieces by a number of Syrian artists.
Participating artists Nabil Razzouk said graphics arts employ a myriad of techniques and mediums both modern and classical, with the works in the exhibitions drawing upon Syria’s artistic heritage and presenting it in new and creative ways.
For her part, artist Lina Deeb said her piece used traditional colors and printing to represent the ancient Syrian civilization of Ugarit and depict the feelings of the mother whose son was martyred.
Art critic Saad al-Qassem said the works shown at the exhibition show versatility in expressing the elements that make up the Syrian artist, drawing inspiration from the country’s nature and its people.
