The organisation committee of the first "International Festival of the December 17 Revolution" held, on Monday in Tunis, a meeting with the press during which it presented the agenda of this first edition of this festival to be held in Sidi Bouzid next December 16-19, 2011. Mr. Youssef Jallali, in charge of information of the organisation committee, said that the festival aims to commemorate the start of the Tunisian Revolution in Sidi Bouzid, specifying that the January 14 Revolution was the outcome of the December 17, 2010 events. In turn, Mr. Mohamed Jallali, committee member, specified that the organisation of the festival is meant to rehabilitate the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, given the latter's key role in setting in motion the January 14 Revolution which in turn sparked off the Arab Spring. The Festival will start next December 16 with a photographic exhibition of the martyrs' portraits and the December 17 events. The official opening of the Festival on December 17 will be marked by unveiling the commemorative monument of the Revolution and the portrait of martyr Mohamed Bouazizi. The agenda of the Festival includes shows in the Sidi Bouzid main street, lectures, recital of poets from several Arab countries, the screening of films on the Revolution, including "Le peuple veut: Dégage" of Tunisian film director Mohamed Zran, as well as the organisation of an international conference on the "January 14 Revolution, Basic Foundation of Right to Democracy and to Revolution."
