Giorgio Albertazzi is the artistic director of the Magna Grecia Theatre Festival, the theatrical itinerary organized by the Department of Culture for the Region of Calabria. Now in its ninth year, the central theme of the Festival is "Il Sud del Mondo (The South of the World)." The event, consisting of 54 theatre performances, will take place on 13 different archaeological sites (Casignano, Cassano allo Ionio, Crotone, Diamante, Lamezia Terme, Locri, Monasterace, Palmi, Reggio Calabria, Ricadi, Roccelletta di Borgia, Rosarno, and Vibo Valentia). Albertazzi has selected several exceptional names to take part this year: Moni Ovadia, Peppe Servillo, Peppe Barra, Rocco Papaleo, Pino Insegno, Vanessa Gravina and Edoardo Siravo. In addition, young playwrights, directors and actors throw their hats in the ring with original works (including Emiliano Reggente and Eleonora Danco). Fresh scripts treating Calabrese realities are in the mix, like that of Intraterrae from Pier Paolo Polcari, while the Calabrese company Scena Verticale will present Italianesi (starring and written by Saverio La Ruina), and the company from Reggio Calabria, Scena Nudache, with the Civic Ballet of La Spezia and Fondazione Teatro Due di Parma, in Troiaparadise. Last but not least are Roberto d'Alessandro with his show Terroni from the book of the same name by Pino Aprile, and the comic duo Battaglia e Miseferi. From / ITALIA website
