Director Rachid Benhadj screened his movie "Perfumes of Algiers" to members of the press in Ibn Zaidoun hall at Riadh Al Fath boat. The film tells the story of Karima, a photographer who lives and works in France. When her father falls ill, her mother begs for her return to Algeria. Karima, played by Italian actress Monica Guerritore, returns to Algeria to find her mother in shambles, her father ill, her brother arrested and a country in distraught. The film flashbacks to 1998 and highlights Algeria’s struggle with terrorism and religious extremism. “Perfumes of Algiers” will participate in the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, which take place on October 11 to October 20.
