The Cairo Celebration Choir, conducted by Nayer Nagui, participated in the Prague Voices 2012 Festival in Czech Republic on 9 and 10 November, winning the Silver Level Diploma. This was the first time in history that an Egyptian choir was officially represented at the festival. Other choirs who performed included choirs from Russia, Kazakhstan, Austria and Romania. The Cairo choir's performance included works by Sayyid Darwish and folkloric songs by Gamal Abdel-Reheim and Awatef Abdel-Kereim. During the awards ceremony, which was hosted on the evening of 10 November, the jury, made up of judges from the Czech Republic and Europe, awarded the Cairo Celebration Choir the Silver Level Diploma Award for Stylish Interpretation of Arabic Music.
