The second edition of the Falcon Contest will open tomorrow (January1). His Majesty's Representative for Charity Work, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa will give the championship the go-ahead.
The championship will be held in "Al-Sabkha" area, at the vicinity of Al-Areeen Wildlife Park, in cooperation with the Nasser bin Hamad Foundation. Named after HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the championship has attracted more than 180 falcons hailing from the local Gyr, Shaheen and Hur breeds.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa hailed the massive participation of falconers in the beauty contest which will run until January 17. He expects tough competition among contenders, underscoring the importance of the championship which part of efforts to preserve deep-rooted falconry heritage.
He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for his keenness on preserving the long-standing national heritage and fostering it among youngsters. Bahrain Sport Channel will air the Falcon Beauty Contest live from 01:30 PM.
