Take the opportunity to discover Greek music and dance tradition through a visit to Dora Stratou Dance Theatre, a “museum” dedicated to Greek traditional dance. During summer in its garden theatre on Filopappou Hill take place many Greek traditional dance performances presented by dancing groups from all over Greece. In Dora Stratou beautiful garden theatre, with Acropolis as a backdrop, a group of 75 dancers, musicians and singers honour Greek music and dance tradition. The programme – changing every second Wednesday – includes dances from various regions of Greece, incorporating each region’s authentic dances, costumes, musical instruments and songs. Within the framework of Dora Stratou Dance Theatre summer festivities, the 7th Dance Festival of the Greek Diaspora, “Anapale 2012” also takes place. On July, 28 and 29, Greek dancers of the Diaspora will perform a programme of their choice (for additional information check the Theatre’s website). “Anapale 2012” is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Municipality of Athens.
