Kabyle singer Lounis Ait Menguellet will hold a concert May 3rd at the Saint-Denis Theatre in Montreal, said his artistic entourage Friday in Paris. “The concert, organized by Nomades Cultures Productions (NCP) Festival, specializing in events organization in Canada, marks the return of the singer and poet to the maple tree country after his great success in June 2012,” said his artistic coordinator Farid Ouahmed. It’s with "great pleasure" that the artist says he wants to repeat his Montreal achievement, city where he said he has thousands of fans. “When we are welcomed somewhere, we return with great pleasure, it’s natural,” he told APS in an interview. The author and composer says he feels lucky “to have an enthusiastic and indulgent audience.” “I have a repertoire that allows me to prepare a different programme than the one from the previous concert,” he said, adding that he rehearsed “Ammi,” from the artist’s 1983 eponymous album and that he plans on humming in a duo with his son, Djaffar, rising star of the Kabyle song and master of the flute, an instrument he accompanies his father with at his artistic performances. Prolific singer, Lounis Ait Menguellet, 64, whose real name is Abdenbi Ait Menguellet, has a 47-year artistic career, with more than 200 songs. In his last album "Tawrict Tacebhant," Ait Menguellet sings love but also reason.
