The capital city of Madrid is screening a selection of Iranian films in an attempt to present the country’s cinematic achievements and culture. Organized by Iran’s Cultural Office in Madrid, the event kicked off during a ceremony attended by Professor Francisco Garcia of the Complutense University of Madrid and secretary of the event Clara Janet Santos. Reza Mirkarimi’s So Far, So Close, Abbas Kiarostami’s Where Is the Friend’s Home, Abolhassan Davoudi Intersection and Mani Haqiqi Canaan are among the films scheduled to be screened during the two-week event. Persian art and culture and especially the Iranian cinema have achieved great international success and the Iranian people speak to the world through their art and literature, said Iran’s cultural attaché Amir Pourpezeshk during the opening ceremony of the event held on March 2nd, 2012. A number of panel discussion sessions and workshops will also be held on the sidelines of the event.
