Qatar National Library (QNL) will organise an educational event for children this Thursday in collaboration with Qatar Foundation Community Services and Qatar Museums, the library said today.
The event named 'Monster Makers Laboratory' will be held from 4 to 6 pm at Aaqool Atrium, Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre in Education City.
The event will feature activities such as teaching children basics of monster-making using simple materials and geometrical shapes. The event is open to all children aged between 3 and 11 and their parents, QNL said.
QNL Project Director Dr Claudia Lux said, "Monster Makers Laboratory’ shows QNL's continued commitment to its mission to spread knowledge, nurture imagination, cultivate creativity, and preserve the nation’s Heritage for the Future." The event also demonstrates innovative ways in which QNL carries out its mission, she added.
Aimed at educating children through art and creative design, the event is part of the 'Makers Event 2015', organised by Qatar Museums Family Programmes, which will see a partnership of Doha's cultural and educational institutions host a variety of programmes that will allow families to choose from several opportunities to get creative.
Under the theme of geometric shapes and patterns, the 'Makers Event 2015' aims to encourage diverse approaches and interpretations geared towards nurturing and showcasing the community’s creativity, QNL said.
QNL is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
