Ana Asheqt (I’ve fallen in Love), Mohammed Mansy Qandil, Cairo: Shorouk Publishing House, 2012. The winner of the Sawiris award, novelist Mohammed Mansy Qnadil, has just had Shorouk Publishing house release his new book tilted Ana Asheqt (I’ve Fallen in Love). The novel tells the story of a man living in a small town who decides to travel to Cairo after his lover left him. Hassan, the hero of the novel puts his innocence aside in this city that "boils with repression," as the novel puts it, and engages in the fights of this overly populated city. The author provides a precise, rich illustration of the human complex and transparent feelings marked with a poetic language that mix reality with dreams. Mohammed Mansy Qandil, Egyptian novelist, born on 1949, graduated from the faculty of medicine, quit his job as a doctor and devoted his life to writing. Two of his other novels were published: The Moon on Samarqand and A Rainy Day at the West Bank, which was shortlisted for the Arabic prize for fiction.
