Culture Minister Helmy el Namnam on Tuesday opened the 38th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) at the Opera House.
This year's edition is dedicated to late iconic Egyptian actor Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz who died days ago.
The festival runs until November 24.
As many as 204 films from 61 countries will be screened in the event.
The national anthem was played at the opening ceremony.
