Sharjah - Arab Today

Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies, one of the main sites of Sharjah Light Festival 2014 showcased a special presentation of lights, colour and melody. The show trains the spotlight on the Centre’s unique collection of centuries-old cartography and history. The lights showcase the dome as a luminous sphere representing the other half of what exists inside the Centre. Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre of the Gulf Studies has a varied personal collection of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of supreme council and ruler of Sharjah. The collection includes rare maps, manuscripts and books dating back centuries as well as some specimens and models of European and Arabian ships that played a pioneering role in the maritime history of the region.
