The province of Skikda has hosted Wednesday a conference on history on the occasion of the National Day of Mujaheed (Liberation War veteran) commemorating the double anniversary of the Soummam Congress and the North Constantine battle (20 August 1955-1956).
The conference, which took place at Skikda's Culture Centre, was attended by Minister of Mujahideen (Liberation War veterans) Tayeb Zitouni, Secretary General of the National Organization of Mujahideen Said Abadou.
On this occasion, the adviser to the Presidency of the Republic Mohamed Ali Boughazi read a message of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika in which he underlined that units of the National Liberation Army launched a battle in the north of Constantine on the same day in 1955 in broad daylight to expose the lies and the propaganda about the power of the Revolution, its organization, resources and sovereign decision-making.
The secretaries general of the organizations of mujahideen, children of shuhada (martyrs of Liberation War), the severely disabled veterans of the National Liberation Army, as well as mujaheed Ammar Benaouda, a member of the group of 22, civilian and military authorities of the province of Skikda attended the official festivities marking the National Mujaheed Day.
