The VII Moscow International Military Music Festival Spasskaya Tower will end in a spectacular show at Moscow’s Red Square on Sunday night. But prior to that, its participants will join the celebrations of Moscow’s Day in nine city parks and recreation zones.
The Spasskaya Tower -2014 festival opened on Red Square on August 30 drawing together more than 1,500 military musicians and honorary guards of the heads of state of ten countries: Armenia, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Mexico, Serbia, Turkey, Switzerland and Russia. French singer Mirey Matie, the Spasskaya Tower’s legend and mascot, will sing on the festival’s closing day that will culminate in fireworks.
“Today, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of WWI. Those tragic events teach us a good lesson and remind us that our world is fragile. As it was already said in greetings to the festival, it is necessary that tolerance, patience, hospitality, friendliness and good-neighborly relations play the first fiddle in the world. Our festival pursues this goal. Judging from the audience’s reaction, the festival was a success. All foreign participants keep saying that our festival is great and that its professional level has improved,” Sergei Khlebnikov, a member of the festival’s Public Council and the commandant of the Moscow Kremlin, said.
The Spasskaya Tower-2015 will be devoted the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) over Nazi Germany.
“Naturally, we would like our WWII allies to take part in the festival next year. We will also be happy to invite representatives of countries that were dragged in that terrible bloodbath,” Khlebnikov said.
