Tlemcen - APS

The film festival of Tlemcen (580-km west of Algiers) opened Monday at Djamel Chanderli movie theatre in the presence of a large audience  and Algerian film industry figures, like Said Hilmi. Speaking at the cultural event's opening ceremony, Algiers' provincial head of Culture, Hakim Miloud, emphasized the importance of cinema as an art and the need to boost the industry, both locally and nationally. One of the event's goals is giving a fresh impetus to film industry in Algeria and create one or many film clubs to operate at Djamel Chanderli movie theatre, completely renovated since 2011. Being held under the major theme "Crossed Looks on Immigration, Uprooting and Exile," the first evening was devoted to the screening of two movies, "Tomorrow, Algiers," by Amine Sidi Boumediene, and "Harraga Blues," by Moussa Haddad.
