Wychwood Festival is a very family-friendly, intimate and inclusive for audience and musician alike, blending world, roots and contemporary music, and encouraging new collaborations. There's also comedy, workshops, and more. Wychwood Festival aims to build on the success of the first seven years, and returns to Cheltenham Racecourse, Gloucestershire on Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June in 2012. The latest acts to be confirmed are Sharon Shannon, Hawkwind, Muha, and Dodgy. Bellowhead top the bill on Friday, James are Saturday night headliners, and The Saw Doctors Sunday headliners. Also confirmed are The Cuban Brothers, The Damned, Duke Special, Mahala Rai Banda, Fay Hield & The Hurricane Party, Gary J Armstrong, and Urusen, Thrill Collins, Doctor and the Medics, JuJu, The Magic Tombolinos, Howard Marks, Dizraeli and The Small Gods, The Fisherman's Friends, Dhol Foundation, Kathryn Roberts And Sean Lakeman, and The Roving Crows. Over the coming months there will be lots more acts announced for Wychwood's four stages. For the line-up details, day and stage splits. The Comedy line-up will include Robin Ince, and special guests. For young Wychwooders Cbeebies star Katy Ashworth will be appearing on Saturday at Wychwood, and there will be an opportunity to meet with her afterwards. Plus Nina & The Neurons will be storytelling on Sunday. Over the weekend, stars of Nick Junior, The Bopps, namely Keith Littler and Stan Bopp, will also be entertaining the little ones. Plus costume and activity events include Winnie the Witch, Where's Wally, and Floppy the Dog (from Oxford Reading Tree series). Authors confirmed for the Literary Festival include Philip Ardagh, Tony de Saulles, K J Wignall, Ian Whybrow, Anna Wilson, John Dougherty, Elen Caldecott, Shoo Rayner, Jamila Gavin, Sally Grindley, Christopher Edge, Karen Langtree, David Lawrence Jones, Jaquie Trajan, and Cindy Jeffries. Wychwood are also introduced a payment scheme this year to make it easier for festival goers to budget for their ticket purchases, with the order split into four equal payments, one taken at the time of the order and each of the remaining three payments taken at the beginning of each of the next three months. Those wishing to take up the offer to pay by installments, are asked to call the festival ticket line and they will set it up. This year there is also a friends scheme to enable festival goers to save even more on their ticket price, when someone is introduced to the festival who has never been before. For every person introduced to the festival and who buys an adult or concession weekend ticket, Wychwood will take £20 the ticket order. So, if someone purchasing a weekend ticket during the earlybird offer (at £100), introduces 5 friends to the festival, then their ticket is essentially free. Wychwood festival goers can introduce as many friends as they like, and will be getting £20 for each and every one! In order to become a 'Friend of the Festival', attendees must have already bought their own ticket for the 2012 festival, either when they left this year, or during this current early bird offer. They then simply give the Wychwood Office a call on 01993 772580 and will be given their own unique reference number to give to their friends to quote when they ring up for their tickets. This offer was only valid during the early bird offer, at the end of which Wychwood organisers will count up how many people each person has introduced to the festival and then send them a cheque for this amount by way of thanks. PLEASE NOTE that all friends' orders will be checked against the festival's database of previous customers to confirm that they are a totally new customer to the festival. Wychwood is a festival not only of music, but crammed full of other things for the 7,500 attendees to see and do, from comedy to cinema, and from workshops to the healing gardens. They already have a number of new ideas being lined up for 2012. The festival is expected to continue with the same camping set up, whereby you will be able to drive up to your camping pitch, and unload your camping gear right by where you are setting up. The campsite is flat, and always in great condition. Then emptied cars must be driven off the campsite and to the car park. After the festival, you'll be able to drive back to your pitch to load up. Wychwood has established itself as being one of the best family festivals in the UK, and prides itself on its eclectic mix of Indie, pop, world and folk music programming combined with comedy (sponsored by eFestivals.co.uk), solar powered cinema, loads of workshops, seminars and creative activities for all ages, all on a compact site at Cheltenham Racecourse, with idyllic camping under the Prestbury Hills. Expect also the return in 2012 of the popular headphone disco.
