The X-Files star Gillian Anderson is partaking in yet another sci-fi project -- a new book about a girl who begins having disturbing visions.
Anderson co-wrote A Vision of Fire with New York Times bestselling author Jeff Rovin. The book tells the story of child psychiatrist Caitlin O'Hara as she treats "the daughter of India's ambassador to the United Nations [who] starts speaking in tongues and having violent visions" all while teens and animals from around the word begin hurting themselves and behaving erratically. O'Hara seems to think there's a connection between the two.
"[I] wanted a very strong female character, around my age. I would want to read something like that and I think other women would like to read," Anderson told Entertainment Weekly in January.
While the book won't be released until October, the 46-year-old actress released an excerpt of the novel on the Simon451 Fall 2014 Preview Sampler -- which can be accessed via Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Apple iBookstore, and the Google Play store. The sampler also includes excepts from Nicholas Sansbury Smith's bestselling "Orbs" series and other sci-fi titles from Simon451.
Anderson currently stars in Young Vic's production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
