The excellent reputation the UAE has gained in the fields of literature, intellect and culture has made it home to literary and cultural creativity, thereby recalling and reviving the glittering days of the historic Arabian Souk of Okaz and Mirbid. This is what Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Director of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), said. The statement was made to coincide with SIBF Participation in the 43rd edition of the London International Book Fair (LBF 2013) - one of the world's most illustrious and popular book fairs, which will take place at the historic Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, England, from the 15th to 17th of April. He pointed out that Sharjah, in particular has a number of cultural institutions which highlights the great support given by H. H. Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, and is pushing forwards for more gains and successes. "Sharjah has become home to many landmark cultural institutions and centres that enjoy major support from H. H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and will continue to press ahead with this path to achieve further successes and gains," Al Ameri said.
